Michelle Lujan Grisham issued the following statement in response to the United States Department of Justice DOJ report on the Albuquerque Police Department. The Albuquerque community has waited a long time 鈥?too long 鈥?for someone to acknowledge and take decisive action against the violence were all witnessing. The DOJ has confirmed longstanding allegations that the department has used excessive force and violated civil rights. After being briefed by the DOJ, I am confident that we are headed toward a court-enforced consent decree with strong federal oversight to ensure real reform of Albuquerques police department.
