The narrative spectacularly wrong-foots the viewerabout an hour in, but even given this perspectival twist, the film is stillconsiderably more approachable than Hong s last Cannes competition entry,2004 s Woman Is The Future Of Man, which left many viewers baffled.Visually and in itsconcentration on a small group of characters, the new film is very close to itspredecessor, and c stanley cup ould be once again be fairly compared with Eric Rohmer in hisMoral Tales mode - as the English title apparently hints. Alluring andlikeable as this film is, however, it seems unlikely to break Hong out of hisspecialist niche, and while festivals will remain faithful, distributors mayfind this a harder sell than earlier, reputation-making works such as TheDay A Pig Fell Down The Well. Source: BFIBen RobertsThe BFI has promoted Film Fund director Ben Roberts to the new role of deputy chief executive.Roberts will move into the position from November 1. It will see him working with BFI CEO Amanda Nevill on a wider remit, including delivery of the organisations five year plan, BFI2022.He will retain overall direction of the Film Fund but will look to introduce a refreshed and expanded editorial approach to it, said a BFI statement. There are no immediate plans to restructure the Fund or to hire anyone in the wake of Roberts new role, but this will be assessed at a later date.Since joining the BFI in 2 stanley uk 012 as director of the Film Fund, Roberts has been instrumental in launching the organisations Diversity Standards, stanley germany which now apply to all funding decisions.
