The Council has subsequently voted to place a referendum on the Nov. 8 General Election ballot to abolish the Office of the Sheriff entirely.Executive Director Jack Jones of the New Mexico Sheriffs Association addressed the issue during a telephone interview Monday at the local sheriffs office.
